100 Word Challenge

Prompt: '...how did he/she get up there?...'

"LILY!" I yell. "COME DOWN PLEASE!" Tears are streaming down my face as I crane my neck towards the speck at the top of the Burj Khalifa. "HOW DID SHE GET UP THERE?" My Mother yells above the sound of the sirens screeching. I don't bother to reply. "SHE'S GONNA JUMP!!!" cries some man over the crowd. Everybody turns to watch except me. I can't bear to see my little sister, my dear little sister. Jump off the tallest building in the world. In our home town Dubai. And it's all because of me. A gasp. A scream. A thud. Then there's blood.

100 Word Challenge

The grass tickles my feet as I run through the park, away from home. My bag bangs my leg continuously. It's all because of Lola. The little brat. I back to see if anyone is following me. All clear. BANG! I run straight into someone. "Oh sorry..." I start to say before I realise I just ran into a wire person! There are about 7 or 8 of them just standing here in the park. Huh, I say to myself. Must just be some silly art exhibit. I sit down beside a tree and think. Lola would really like these. I snap a picture of them and start the jog back home. Who knows? Lola might be okay after all.

100 Word Challenge

Hello! Another 100 word challenge for you! (Even though it is 208 words long!)

Lights Out

I pull on my gear and step into the passenger side of the car. It’s pitch black outside. My microphone crackles loudly so I turn the volume down. “Toby. Toby. Do you copy?” says the voice. “I read you loud and clear.” I reply. I move around and try to get comfortable, although these rally cars are made for speed, not comfort. My dream is to one day become a world wide known rally racer. The driver’s door opens and Pete steps in. He goes through the safety checks and we pull up to the starting line. He doesn’t need to ask me if I’m ready. Every time I’d reply: “I was born ready!”

The engine revs up loudly and then we’re off! Rounding the corner we were moving very fast - probably around 300 km/h - when we drift off the track and bang into the tire wall, damaging the fuel tank and causing it to leak. The lights in the car go out. Pete, unaware of the fuel leak strikes a match to light the way. “NOOO!” I yell. This was a very bad idea. My yelling gave Pete a fright and he drops the match. The world explodes around me. Red, white and orange. Then….. BLACK.

Past, Present and Future.

Last week we were working on our speeches. My speech was on Why Do Ants Think They're Invited To Picnics? Here is the link to my speech: Why Do Ants Think They're Invited To Picnics? I really enjoyed writing this and I learnt a lot of things about ants. Here are some of the facts off the op of my head:

  • Ants have been around for more than 110 million years.
  • An ants smell is four to five times better than most other insects.
  • An ant can carry up to ten times their own weight.
  • Ants move more earth than any other living organism.
ISN'T THAT CRAZY!!!

Presenting speeches was also fun and we got to listen to everybody elses as well. Some of the topics were really crazy! Since I am in the A Class we are allowed to have 4 students to go into the year 7 speech finals. I am also going to Bali next week and we leave on Friday. Next Thursday is going to be my last day of school before we go!

I am really looking forward to getting to the hot beaches of Bali! We are going to 9 days I think and when I get back it will be one week before the Opera! I am a Drunk Lady and  Sprite. The dances are reallt cool and it is going to be amazing when we are all onstage.

I am really looking forward to everything at Sothwell!!!

WANAKA!!

In the school holidays I went down to the South Island to Queenstown. From there I went to Wanaka. My family and I went skiing and we also went to Puzzling World. It is soo cool! We did a giant maze called 'The Great Maze' and I teamed up with Daddy and Olivia. (My younger sister. Aged 5) Mummy and Benjamin (my younger brother aged 9) teamed up too. My team found all four corner towers that you are supposed to find. For Benj and Mummy... They started to follow us even though they said they weren't

Publishing (Images)

HERE YOU GO!!! :

This is one of my favourite pieces in my whole book. This was inspired from a Toi Toi which is a journal for young authors and illustrators. We read a piece about a waterfall in class which inspired me to do a poem.
This one is inspired by James and the Giant Peach.
This is a poem I wrote about a Tsunami.

Ha! Ha! Has anybody noticed that all the pieces are poems!!! It just shows how much I LOVE poems!  I do have other pieces except they are just a work in progress!

Publishing

I have now got 11 pieces of publishing that I have done and I will put on some photos of my best pieces soon......

Technology Competition

For Technology this term the year 7's are entering a competition for the future transport of New Zealand. I am in a group with Sarah Crowther and Anna Urlich. Our video is coming along nicely and we are almost ready to present it with the rest of the class. I was hoping the we could build a small model for our idea that I am not going to put on this blog post as other people may steal our idea and make it better. I am really enjoying technology and I can't wait to actually make something that I can use at home.

James and the Giant Peach

On Monday 12th of June 7DM presented their year 7 production James and the Giant Peach. I was a teenager that went to bargain to see the peach and I was also a seagull. I think that we did really well and I really enjoyed the show.

On that same night our class watched 7JA's show as well. I thought that theirs was quite funny and both plays got the main storyline across adding little bits along the way.
