100 Word Challenge

Prompt: ‘...we seemed to be on the television…’
Title: Cheese!
The crowds roared in the stands, the hot pies steamed and the rain poured down as the football teams paraded out onto the field. I stared at the blue and white team shirts, wishing to be in one. Dad nudged me in the shoulder and pointed to the big screen. We seemed to be on the television but it was hard to tell through all the rain.
The first whistle blew and the game was on! I took a big bite of my steaming pie. Mmmm. Mince and cheese, my favourite. Dad held his phone up in the air, flipping the camera around to face us.
“Say cheese!”

100 Word Challenge

Prompt: ‘...I wondered what was behind the door…’
Title: The Haunted House

The floorboards creaked beneath my weight, doors creaked open and spiderwebs hung from the walls. I shuffled along the corridor with my best friend Ellie trailing behind.
“Charlotte I think we should turn back. Take the emergency exit maybe…” she whispered. We approached the end of the hallway and saw a door, illuminated by a green light. I wondered what was behind the door. Maybe a zombie? It had to be something to scare the wits out of me.
I opened the door carefully, peeking around the corner. Sitting on a pole was a gem, shiny and beautiful. Gliding towards it, as if in a trance was… it couldn’t be… it wasn’t possible...
A GHOST!!!
I sprinted out the door, grabbing Ellie’s hand on the way. Down the corridor, through reception and out onto the street. I had had enough of Haunted Houses for a long, long time.

100 Word Challenge

Prompt:
Title: Dedication 118 words
The barrel of the gun was pressing into my head, loaded and ready. “Hurry up!” the terrorist barked in my ear. He shoved me into a room with all the other hostages, the gun still on my forehead. Once I was inside he snatched the gun back and closed the door. Locking it behind him. Outside I heard a bang, a thump and the sound of bending metal. The door unlocked and opened. We all crowded in the corner. A young man poked his head through the door. “It’s okay.” he said. “He’s gone.”
10 years later the gun the man had used was made into a sculpture and was dedicated to the man that saved our lives.

100 Word Challenge

Prompt:

“Yes! YES! The moon is almost full! I can feel it.” Yells the Sargent, even though he probably can’t as we are stuck in the pitch black shell…….
Of the durian. Legend says that when we have been inside here for 100 years the shell will open and we will take over the world!!! I see a slither of light, the Sargent was right! We pour continuously out of the fruit, and breathe in the fresh air. Landing softly on this green substance we march onwards to take over. Thud! Ten of the troops collapse on the ground. Then another, and another. I spin around only to realise the killer can’t be stopped. He is legendary, he is….

THE RAIN.

100 Word Challenge

Prompt: '...how did he/she get up there?...'

"LILY!" I yell. "COME DOWN PLEASE!" Tears are streaming down my face as I crane my neck towards the speck at the top of the Burj Khalifa. "HOW DID SHE GET UP THERE?" My Mother yells above the sound of the sirens screeching. I don't bother to reply. "SHE'S GONNA JUMP!!!" cries some man over the crowd. Everybody turns to watch except me. I can't bear to see my little sister, my dear little sister. Jump off the tallest building in the world. In our home town Dubai. And it's all because of me. A gasp. A scream. A thud. Then there's blood.

100 Word Challenge

The grass tickles my feet as I run through the park, away from home. My bag bangs my leg continuously. It's all because of Lola. The little brat. I back to see if anyone is following me. All clear. BANG! I run straight into someone. "Oh sorry..." I start to say before I realise I just ran into a wire person! There are about 7 or 8 of them just standing here in the park. Huh, I say to myself. Must just be some silly art exhibit. I sit down beside a tree and think. Lola would really like these. I snap a picture of them and start the jog back home. Who knows? Lola might be okay after all.

100 Word Challenge

Hello! Another 100 word challenge for you! (Even though it is 208 words long!)

Lights Out

I pull on my gear and step into the passenger side of the car. It’s pitch black outside. My microphone crackles loudly so I turn the volume down. “Toby. Toby. Do you copy?” says the voice. “I read you loud and clear.” I reply. I move around and try to get comfortable, although these rally cars are made for speed, not comfort. My dream is to one day become a world wide known rally racer. The driver’s door opens and Pete steps in. He goes through the safety checks and we pull up to the starting line. He doesn’t need to ask me if I’m ready. Every time I’d reply: “I was born ready!”

The engine revs up loudly and then we’re off! Rounding the corner we were moving very fast - probably around 300 km/h - when we drift off the track and bang into the tire wall, damaging the fuel tank and causing it to leak. The lights in the car go out. Pete, unaware of the fuel leak strikes a match to light the way. “NOOO!” I yell. This was a very bad idea. My yelling gave Pete a fright and he drops the match. The world explodes around me. Red, white and orange. Then….. BLACK.
